I actually discovered Jesse Boykins III at the end of 2008 but got his latest album, The Beauty Created in 2009 and I have been a fan ever since. The album is just perfect to me and I listen to it regularly, as it is one of these albums that you can never get enough of.
Jesse Boykins III is among the ‘new generation’ artists who have a really original sound, along with beautifully written lyrics and an enchanting voice. Despite being quite young, he seems to be really mature and speaks of love and life as someone who has had a good amount of experience and who took time to reflect on it. He is definitely a poet and most of his songs have a dreamlike quality, inviting you to open your mind and travel in his world. My personal favourites are Sunstar, Come to my room, Shine and Itis.
It seems to me that I am indeed opening my mind more and more these days when it comes to music, and my love for Jesse Boykins III’s music is a good example of this new openness. I was not familiar with this kind of music before and it actually really appeals to me, I feel attracted to it like a magnet and I always want to discover more. I guess this is also linked to my (re)discovery of my artistic sensibility and creativity, which is one of the greatest things that has happened to me in 2009!
Another thing I love about him is the creativity of his videos. Once again there is something special about them, they don’t look like anything that has been done before and make you want to escape reality and wander in your thoughts. They look like short-films, snapshots of his creative world where you want to go and live forever.

A great example of this is his brand-new video for Itis, which you can check out below. As I said the song is a favourite of mine, but with the video there is a new dimension, which makes me love it even more. This is a great quality video, original and it complements the song perfectly. And it’s always a pleasure to see this good-looking young man… Enjoy!

EDIT: The video doesn’t seem to be available anymore, which is a damn shame!

And because I love this one as well, I couldn’t help posting it.
