Support Japan: The Sun Still Rises In The East

This blog is all about music but sometimes the world around is falling apart and you just can’t ignore it. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you are bound to know about what happened in Japan on 11th March and the aftermath of this earthquake and tsunami. Clearly, one of the worst tragedies in history is happening right before our eyes and it’s no film this time. The effects will be deep and long-lasting, Japan needs to be rebuilt, some people need to start again from zero and we are still very, very far from moving in this direction with nuclear disaster looming. I won’t go on forever with the despairing facts but will instead ask a question: what can I, you, everyone else do? Apart from mentally sending positive vibes towards those who suffer, the most effective way is obviously to donate money. Now, that’s where music comes into play. I guess many of those initiatives will be taken, but I just wanted to underline two.

First of all, The Find Magazine and A Bridge Too Far Recordings teamed up to create a great compilation entitled The Sun Still Rises In The East, where you can find many exclusive tracks, from very talented indie artists. All the money donated will be sent to the Red Cross UK’s Tsunami Appeal and for a music lover like me it’s a wonderful way to support. I already know several of the artists featured on the compilation, I even presented some of them to you in the past months and others are new to my ears, making me curious to discover more about them. Among others, you can listen to tracks from Melodiq, Dela, The Broken Orchestra, Dee La Kream or Kidkanevil. Please head towards the Bandcamp page or just click on the link below, donate and spread the word!

Another great initiative I stumbled upon this morning is courtesy of Swiss beatmaker Chief and Feelin’ Music, who present Give what you want, a very nice, chilled track that is available for download on a pay what you want basis (the more the better!). Once again, it is a great way to support the efforts to rebuild Japan and give Japanese people some hope for a better future. All processes will go towards the Japanese Red Cross Society. Please don’t hesitate and download this great track and share the info with your people! You can find Give what you want on Feelin’ Music’s Bandcamp, or simply by clicking on the link below. Thanks for your support!
