I had heard of Tone Trezure before but didn’t really take the time to listen to her music properly. This was corrected recently, when I saw a link on Twitter to her My Destiny EP. I was not sure what to expect, as I didn’t know the artist or her music. But I was definitely enchanted and I think more people definitely need to hear it!
The first thing that caught my attention after the first listen was the eclectism of the project, which is something I am really interested in, as it shows the different sides to an artist’s talent. Some artists are great at what they do but lack variety and can sound a bit repetitive sometimes. This is not the case with Tone Trezure, and this EP is a great introduction to her music and to the ‘many styles that comprise the Ego of Tone Trezure’. This eclectism is obvious with the productions (most of them courtesy of Tone herself), going from the most lively and bouncy ones to beautiful, smooth and sensual ones, always making it easy for the listeners to enter the artist/producer’s universe. It is also manifested by Tone’s multiple talents: she is definitely gifted with singing but also producing as I said, as well as songwriting and even rapping, which enables her to express herself in more ways than one.
When it comes to the lyrics, something I always pay close attention to, I was really satisfied. Tone Trezure is a very talented songwriter and explores the themes of love and life from a very personal and autobiographical perspective. Obviously these are very common themes, those most artists deal with but it’s always a pleasure to hear how they express their feelings and thoughts. With this EP, we start the journey with the inspiring My Destiny, where Tone describes her growth and how she found her destiny and works towards fulfilling it, which is the kind of message everyone should listen to and apply in their lives. Then, as the atmosphere changes sublty and becomes smoother and more sensual, so do the lyrics. She is inviting the man she loves in her universe, asking him to be by her side and I think her voice can convince any man to do so! I need to give a special mention to Don’t hang up the phone, for the amazing production, with beautiful instruments and harmonies, as well as the sultry voice and lyrics. It’s definitely my favourite on My Destiny, the kind of song that makes me feel ‘oooooooh’… To conclude the EP, Tone declares that she is Ready to go with an inspiring song which should motivate you to be productive and make things happen.
